Scroll scene: draw
A timeline whose line draws itself as you scroll, lighting each entry as it arrives. Entries alternate either side of the line on a wide screen and line up beside it on a phone. Needs the EtchPress Runtime; without it the timeline is simply all there.

Our story
Fifteen years, one street at a time.
2011
One truck, two people
Mowing and hedges for the street we lived on.
2014
The first full garden
A terrace, beds and irrigation for a house on Hillcrest. We still look after it.
2017
A yard of our own
Room for stone, soil and a workshop, so jobs stop waiting on deliveries.
2020
Design moves in-house
Every garden is drawn and priced by the people who will build it.
2023
Three crews
Twelve people, and a waiting list we try to keep under two months.
Today
Still on the same street
The first lawns we mowed are still on the round.

Before you copy
This is a showpiece. It pastes into Etch like any other item and it is complete without anything else, but its motion comes from the EtchPress runtime: a small script that loads only on the pages that use a showpiece.
Etch for WordPress: download the EtchPress Runtime plugin from Downloads in your account, install it and activate it. Paste your licence key under Settings, EtchPress Runtime, and it updates from the Plugins screen like any other plugin.
Etch Studio: download the EtchPress runtime files from Downloads in your account, unzip them and drop them into your project's Asset Manager, then paste the item. Studio ships the files it needs with your site.
What you can build with it
A company history. A project timeline or roadmap. The stages of a service. A changelog told as a story.
Props
eyebrow (text, optional); title (text, optional); entries (repeater: when, title, text)
States shown
Scrolling: the line grows to where you are reading, and entries above it are lit, those below dimmed. Reaching the end of the page lights the rest. The same on touch. Reduced motion and no runtime: the whole line and every entry.
How to change it
Content and options are 3 props in the component's settings panel. Colour, type, spacing and radius follow your Automatic.css settings, so a change to the site's palette or scale changes this too. For anything else, edit the classes in the Style Manager, starting with .scene-draw. Its behaviour is a small script that travels with the component; no plugin and nothing to install.
ACSS tokens used
space-xs, space-s, space-m, space-l, h4, text-s, primary, primary-dark, text-dark-muted.
ACSS requirements
ACSS 4 defaults. Needs the EtchPress Runtime, 0.6.0 or later: the EtchPress Runtime plugin on WordPress, or the runtime's files dropped into the project's Asset Manager in Etch Studio. Without it you get the still version.
