Reveal text

A heading or paragraph whose words enter one after another: rising, fading or sharpening from a blur. Triggered when it scrolls into view or on page load. Needs the EtchPress Motion stylesheet (free); without it, and for people who prefer reduced motion, the text simply shows. Line wipe: a colour bar crosses each line and the words are there when it leaves; word blocks do the same per word.

Motion

Sharpening into place, one word at a time.

Every word arrives on its own, then the sentence settles.

A bar crosses each line, and the words are there when it leaves.

Each word is uncovered by its own block.

This one waits until you scroll it into view, then fades in word by word.

Paragraphs work too. Keep them short: a stagger across sixty words is a wait, not an effect.

Reveal text

What you can build with it

A headline whose words arrive one after another. A section opener that enters when it is reached. A short statement on a landing page.

Props

text (text); level (select: h1, h2, h3, p); effect (select: wipe, rise, blur, fade, block); trigger (select: scroll, load); speed (select: medium, slow, fast)

States shown

Before entry (hidden), entering (words staggered), settled. Reduced motion: settled from the start.

How to change it

Content and options are 5 props in the component's settings panel. Colour, type, spacing and radius follow your Automatic.css settings, so a change to the site's palette or scale changes this too. For anything else, edit the classes in the Style Manager, starting with .reveal-text. Its behaviour is a small script that travels with the component; no plugin and nothing to install.

ACSS tokens used

None beyond the heading and text styles the element already has. Timing on –rt-duration and –rt-stagger.

ACSS requirements

ACSS 4 defaults. EtchPress Motion stylesheet installed once. Scroll-driven entry needs a browser with animation-timeline (Chrome, Edge, Safari 26); others animate on load.
