Image reveal

What you can build with it

A case study image that wipes in as the reader reaches it. A portfolio piece with a caption. A product photo with a slow settle.

Props

image (image); alt (text); caption (text, optional); direction (select: up, left, right, down, curtain, circle); ratio (select: 4:3, 16:9, 1:1, 3:4); zoom (boolean)

States shown

Hidden (before entry), revealing, shown. Reduced motion and older browsers: shown.

How to change it

Content and options are 6 props in the component's settings panel. Colour, type, spacing and radius follow your Automatic.css settings, so a change to the site's palette or scale changes this too. For anything else, edit the classes in the Style Manager, starting with .image-reveal, .null. Its behaviour is a small script that travels with the component; no plugin and nothing to install.

ACSS tokens used

–radius for the corners, –text-dark-muted for the caption.

ACSS requirements

ACSS 4 defaults. EtchPress Motion stylesheet installed once. Scroll-driven behaviour needs a browser with animation-timeline (Chrome, Edge, Safari 26); others show the finished state.
